As discussed in Living with children’s cancer, going through cancer treatment can affect the mental health of you, your family and friends, and your child with cancer. Feelings of depression, stress, worthlessness, worry, anxiety and sleeplessness may be felt long after treatment ends. Encourage your family to speak up if they experience any of these feelings.
Having to continue with regular check-ups may raise many of these feelings again, even after you thought you had dealt with them. It is important to realise that this is normal, but always be sure to seek help if you or your family are still experiencing some of these feelings after treatment.
